The Story Behind the Cut:
Chuck has been a staple of ranch kitchens for centuries. Harvested from the shoulder, where the cattle work hardest, this cut earned its place in the hearts of cowboys, farmers, and home cooks alike. It’s not just a meal—it’s a tradition: a slow-cooked roast filling the house with irresistible aromas, promising a meal made with patience, love, and respect for the land and the animal.
What Makes It So Decadent:
The chuck roast is beautifully marbled, with ribbons of fat that slowly render during cooking, creating tender, juicy meat and luscious natural gravy. It’s packed with rich flavor that holds up to bold seasonings, hearty vegetables, and long braises. Our Ranch Hand Chuck is carefully hand-trimmed to leave just the right amount of fat, ensuring every bite is juicy, tender, and unforgettable.
Cooking Instructions:
Chuck is best when slow-cooked to unlock its full richness.
1.Prep: Bring the roast to room temperature. Season generously with salt, pepper, and your favorite herbs (thyme, rosemary, garlic powder).
2.Sear: In a heavy Dutch oven or large pot, sear the roast on all sides until golden brown.
3.Build the Braise: Add onions, carrots, potatoes, and broth (or wine) to the pot. The liquid should come about halfway up the roast.
4.Slow Cook: Cover tightly and roast at 300°F for 3–4 hours, or until the meat is fall-apart tender.
5.Serve: Shred or slice and serve with the rich, flavorful juices over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or fresh-baked bread.
Pro Tip:
For even more flavor, add a splash of balsamic vinegar or a spoonful of tomato paste to the braising liquid for extra depth.
